China Glaze - Desert Escape collection (swatches and review)

**press sample**

Hi guys! Today I have the new Desert Escape Collection from China Glaze to share with you! It consists of six limited edition polishes that are meant to mimic, well..the desert! I think they nailed it. It has a red, a nude, some dusty pinks, a rosey/coppery metallic, a turquoise and a frosty magenta! It screams desert sunset to me!

All of the purchase and release information will be down below, but for now, lets jump into the swatches!

What's She Dune? is a wonderful, putty colored nude creme that just makes my heart happy! If you've been following me for any length of time, you know I love nudes as bases for not only glitter toppers, but fun nail art too! Great formula needing just two coats, plus it didn't have that chalky finish some nudes and light shades are known to possess. this was perfectly smooth and dried to a shiny finish.

Don't Mesa with My Heart is a dusty rose pink creme. Another winner in the formula department for me! This one was two creme, smooth coats plus topcoat; though it was pretty close to being one!

Rain Dance the Night Away is a bright turquoise blue creme! So bright! This one had a bit of a thicker formula, but was still easy to apply and again only needed two coats plus topcoat!

The Heat is On is a gah-or-geous orange toned red creme, that was actually a little on the jelly side. It's formula was a bit thin, but still pretty opaque. For my photos I did two coats plus topcoat and you could still slightly see my nail line. If this bothers you, you may want to add a third coat. Beautiful color and as a lover of red, I welcome this warm tone into my collection with open arms!

Meet Me in the Mirage is a beautiful rosey, coppery metallic creme! So pretty! It is a bit streaky if you're not careful, which as you can see I was not. I am a bit heavy handed, so I struggle getting the perfect metallic applications. If you're like me, you can always sponge on the second coat to avoid the streaks; but if you are careful and better at applying them than me, you should have no problem! Again this is two coats plus topcoat; though it is almost opaque in one coat!

Don't Desert Me is a bright magenta metallic polish and it is glorious! Perfect summery toenail color in my opinion! Again you can see my turned out a tad streaky, but this is really all due to my own application. For my photos I did two coats plus topcoat. I did notice that this one had some teeny tiny "lumps" in it. I think my bottle may just have been wonky, as I checked out several other bloggers' reviews before my package arrived and no one else had this issue. You can see what I mean best in the macro. This one was also very close to being a one coater, but due to my brush strokes, I personally needed two.

Aside from the one wonky polish, which I still loved, I was really really pleased with this entire collection! They aren't your usual eye searingly bright colors for summer, but they are definitely more my taste. Don't get me wrong, I love a good neon now and then, but for most everyday wear, I reach for more neutral shades.

Now...where to buy these...

The individual polishes will not be available at Sally's or other local retail shops. This collection will be exclusively sold at Lock and Mane, a new online retailer, on June 1st!
