I,A.M...CustomColor - Ashes's Faves May & June Duos (swatches and review)

**press sample**
Hi guys! Today I have I,A.M...CustomColor's Ashes' Faves for May and June to share with you! As I was very sick, I was not able to get these up before the actual release; Ashlie also provided perfect descriptions for each polish, so the polish and inspiration descriptions below will be directly quoted from her.

May Duo

"Rukmini Devi-  Is a Glitterbomb with teal , purple, blue and neon green shimmery glitterbomb"
Rukmini Devi - Here I did three coats by itself on my pinky and then one coat over OPI You're So Vain-illa on the rest. I bet with all the teal microshimmer, this would look amazing over black!
Such a beautiful mix of glitter and shimmer!

Additional information from Ashlie
"Rukmini Devi Arundale was an Indian Dancer that was inspired to bring back classical Indian temple dancing during British colonial rule, as it had been outlawed as most traditional culture had. You can learn more about her here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rukmini_Devi_Arundale Because of her I am able to enjoy a neo- classical resurgence of Bharatanatyam Seen here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgiLOzFQh14), my favorite Classical Indian dance form and one I have learned, danced and choreographed. She was an interesting and beautiful soul and I have been inspired to create a peacock type Glitter Bomb in her Memory! Although there are no surviving Videos of Rukmini Dancing due to her living in the first half of the last century, here is a video of her first student dancing her recreation of Ancient Indian Dance! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1t_zwvFgk8 )"

"Tomorrow Never Knows is either a teal Jelly or teal jelly holo. Customers choice."

Tomorrow Never Knows - I chose the teal jelly holo for this one and was so glad I did! It's gorgeous! For my photos I did just two coats, plus topcoat! I have really white tips, so you can still see my nail line through the two coats, it's not quite as obvious in person. If this bothers you, you could add a third coat or make the second coat a bit thicker. (You also have the option of choosing a teal jelly instead...it's gorgeous. You can see a photo of @gotnail's swatch here)

Additional info from Ashlie
"Tomorrow Never Knows is the Teal Holo or Jelly that accompanies the glitter bomb. This Polish is named after one of my Favorite Beatles songs. You can Listen to it here-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tisjsgsgtZU I really enjoy the Beatles, A lot. The Hybrid Bharatanatyam piece I choreographed was to a Beatles song and I find comfort in their lyrics and rhythms.

May's  duo offers a scented top coat called Summer Garden-Featuring Gardenia and Jasmine and Lemon scent!"
(Loved the topcoat as well! It dries quickly and leaves just a hint of a floral scent)

June Duo

"Girl's Night Out-a baby neon pink grelly (glitter and jelly) with pink, purple, black and silver holo glitter that glows in the dark. I also Included a baggie of placement glitters with this one!"

Girl's Night Out -  Great crelly formula and I loved the glitter mix combination! I did three thin coats, but two normal to thicker coats would cover completely. The larger glitters are a bit sparse and hard to pick up, but since she includes a small pack of the loose glitters, I was easily able to place a few of them where I wanted! I forgot this was glow in the dark when I was swatching, so I took a bottle shot of it for you

Additional info from Ashlie
"This Polish was Inspired by one of my Favorite "The Knife" Songs -'Girl's Night Out' It has a beat I love and boy do I love cranking it up! You can hear it here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HMLNcHUg9o (Girl Power!, Ya I went there, hahaha) "

"Madamoiselle NON is an eggplant to neon grape purple holo thermal."

Mademoiselle NON - Gorgeous! That it is all.....just kidding! I love this tone of purple so so much! Now this is a thermal, but because I am a moron sometimes, I didn't even notice while swatching. I tried it out after the fact and it does indeed work. I wouldn't say its the most obvious thermal, but it is definitely there. My nail bed was just a tad lighter and more neon looking than my tips, which were a deeper purple color. (Tiffany White, @mrswhite8907, has a great video to show the change) For my photos I did just two coats plus topcoat; though it is nearly a one coater!

Additional info from Ashlie
"This Polish was inspired by my favorite current French Dancer, Sylvie Guillem. AN amazing Ballerina with extensions out the wazoo. She is Dedicated, Committed, Fierce, and a little Odd and for this I love her! She refused to be with just one company and started the freelance revolution for phenomenal dancers, earning her nickname, Misses NO! lol. Here is a video from the height of her Paris Opera Career- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDgrli50V2g
I have to include this, here is a video of her falling on stage because people always think she is super human and is pure perfection, for me this makes her REAL and that much more endearing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luWup6OV63g
Here she is in rehearsal, I love watching rehearsals-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blFwD5LXyZY
AND this is what made me fall in love with her, oh the strangeness!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0koV2SSE3eU"

June's duo offers a gorgeous bronzer/blush/ highlighter all in one called Triple Threat. It's so pretty and really pigmented and shimmery! This is going to be amazing in the summer when I'm a little tanner (right now I think I literally glow in the dark) I also want to try it as an eyeshadow!

As usual, I love the duos! Both have beautiful colors and great formulas! I really like the cosmetic addition to the June duo..can't wait to really try it out!

Both duos are available in Ashlie's shop now!

Thanks for reading!
Stalk me!

  1. These aren't really my cup of tea. I do like Tomorrow Never Knows but I also have very white tips so I'm not sure if it would work for me.
